Description

Detroit would not be Detroit without the memorable works of Minoru Yamasaki. Through his world-class architecture, Yamasaki’s legacy continues to delight and surprise those who are lucky enough to experience his buildings in this city, across the country and around the world. As a true celebration of his work, this 38mm Canfield is the latest timepiece in our Great Americans Series. Inspired by the McGregor Memorial Conference Center and a few elements from One Woodward, this timepiece shines with clean lines and other modern design details. Featuring a brushed stainless steel case, a black dial with matte alabaster details and a special Yamasaki caseback, this watch is a keepsake to be admired for many years to come.

This 38mm Canfield features a brushed stainless steel case with polished coin edge details, a classic pumpkin crown and double-domed sapphire crystal. Sapphire is second only to the diamond in hardness, helping protect the watch from scratches. While there are multiple elements that make this watch beautiful, the highlight of the case is actually the caseback. It honours the famous architect’s design philosophy with graphic metallic elements that shine on an alabaster backdrop under a sapphire crystal plate.

The centerpiece of this timepiece is a black mineral-textured dial decorated with applied matte alabaster Arabic numerals, matte alabaster hands with contrasting black fill and a special printed Yamasaki logo.

This premium leather strap in black is the perfect complement to this timepiece. It’s designed to be clean and modern with no stitching visible. The strap is also removable, making the timepiece customizable with the purchase of an additional strap. Shinola leather straps are cut and sewn in America.
Quick Release: Fitted with quick release pins, this strap is easy to change. No tools required.

Inspired by the McGregor Memorial Conference Center on Wayne State University’s campus, the watch box is uniquely designed to honour the architectural legacy of Yamasaki. Inside is a mechanical pencil and artful photographic prints of Yamasaki’s buildings around Detroit. Designed with classical and geometric elements, this collectible box is not only a sturdy house for a treasured timepiece, but it’s also a work of art on its own.
